Laura Tetto

Spanish 4 and 1.5, Robbinsville High School 5th year

What teacher had the biggest influence on you as a student & why?: My 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Schiumo. She had the biggest heart and cared so deeply for her students. After I left her class, I knew I wanted to do exactly what she was doing everyday - making an impact on her students' lives everyday.

Favorite book: Any murder mystery novel is my favorite- I don't have one specifically!

Hobbies: Watching crime TV shows, going to the beach, going out to eat and working out.

Favorite color: Green

Favorite meal: Spaghetti and meatballs

Favorite musician or musical groups: I am a big country music fan girl! No favorite in particular, but Florida Georgia Line and Dan + Shay are way up there!

Favorite sports team: New York Yankees

Favorite TV show: Stranger Things” and “Friends”

Favorite Movie: Mrs. Doubtfire”

Three for dinner: All of the cast  members from “Stranger Things” & “Friends” - because they are AWESOME and I want to be their friends!

Proudest moment on the job: When my students come back to visit me and tell me how much they loved my class!

Fondest memory on the job: Successful Homecoming and pep rally activities :) I always feel so proud and excited to see all the students and staff participating in spirit week, the pep-rally games, and having a blast at the dance. I love to organize the homecoming king & queen for the seniors as well because I love to see them excited and happy and experiencing a moment they will surely remember from their senior year.

What inspires you: My colleagues! They are so innovative and inspire me to be so as well.

How do you make connections with students?: I ask about their interests and their days. It's important to me to know how they are doing outside of academics. I like them to know that I care about them.

If you could pass on your wisdom regarding your job, what would you share: You are your biggest critic! It's hard not to get down on yourself if something doesn't go as planned or "right." But nonetheless, you ARE still doing a GREAT job. Don't give up.

Is there a quote or saying that you live your life by: "This too shall pass." and "There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind."

What makes a good day at school?: Seeing my students engaged, laughing, and having fun in my class all WHILE learning Spanish!
